The mono-line worker’s compensation program dates back to 1989 when it was established as a niche program, primarily for nursing homes. This program has evolved over the years into a unit that has the ability to underwrite mono-line work comp programs for multiple industry segments. In addition to our main target classes of business, this unit has the ability to offer workers compensation products to many various types of businesses. Because of our unique approach, NAICO stresses to our agents that we want to look at insuring virtually any class of business that is not specifically ineligible for this program. Some workers’ compensation rate relief and reform have been obtained in various states, which has given us the ability to become more competitive on workers’ compensation programs. As a specialty carrier we offer our standard lines products with retrospective rating plans and/or large deductibles where costs are largely based on loss results. This allows our insureds to manage their losses to better control their total cost of risk. We lead our industry in regards to developing insurance programs that give smaller companies the opportunity to share in the risk and take responsible deductible retentions.
